A Visitor

So this morning I call the neighbors to warn them that a juvenille BEAR is in our yard. This is the neighborly thing to do since they are often outside gardening. No answer. I leave a message.

Twenty minutes later I get a call from them. "I was exercising and didn't hear exactly what you said so I didn't pick up. You think the next time you could just say BEAR and not JUVENILLE BEAR..."

Ah sure - No problem.....

Why is it helpful to know it is a juvenille bear? Have you ever gotten yourself between a Mama Bear and her cubs? the Other Mother has. Not even a little bit pretty. Or safe. Have you ever been around an old jaded been-there-done-that-you-can't-scare-me older bear????? Yeah, he isn't going Anywhere...nope. A juvenille Bear is both stupid and easily frightened away with a loud voice and a handclap or two.  So I thought it was useful info. Or not.

  1. What? Talk about picky. I would make up all kinds of other adjetives to describe the bear now just because they said that.

  2. Next time just tap out "B-E-A-R" on the receiver, in Morse code.

  5. LOL!!! Thanks for the laugh! I have been reading just not doing much on the commenting and writing front. So glad you are still in Baby D's life. We are still trying to firm up summer travel but will most definitely be out in your neck of the woods so hopefully we can get together! Happy Mothers' Day (belated although Mexican mothers' day was just yesterday so not too late) and Happy B'day to the Other Mother!
    Best,

  6. Good thing you didn't say adolescent! Personally, I'd like to know if I can expect a mature bear or one with raging hormones....helps me decide how best to baste myself for their dining pleasure. Maybe next time just think bear and stand facing their home.
