Day 27-My worst habit. That's really hard...hmmmm. Another toss up. It is either not being able to say "NO" to DFS foster care placement calls or always saying "YES" when they call to place kids with us.....
Yeah. It has been a WEEK like that here. Truly, the Littles are challenging our very best parenting skills. When I called today to get the Older Little a psychiatrist appointment, the receptionist said the end of November is the earliest appointment and only after completing several visits with one of their therapists. I explained the Little arrived in foster care taking twice an adult dosage and more than four times a child's dosage of a pretty serious med and that our very well respected family physician is NOT comfortable renewing and directed us to bring the Little to a psychiatrist. Our family physician was surprised (as were we) that the Little did NOT have an on-going psychiatrist in his hometown far-away and that the meds were prescribed by a pediatrician.
The receptionist must have correctly interpreted my "Are.you.kidding.me? The end of November??!!?", not as rudeness, but as the desperate sound of an feral foster momma trying unsuccessfully to advocate for her foster child.
She called back in less than an hour with an appointment for the first week of November and said she'd put me on a cancellation list.
Thank you sweet baby Jesus. Thank you Jenna the amazing receptionist!

Meh. You could call it your worst habit, or your best. Take your pick.
ReplyDeleteThe meds on that little one sound scary- I hope that psych gets a cancellation soon!
Ihope you get in a lot sooner!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Can't-say-no Disease. Or, as my therapist once coined it Gross Empathic Disorder. I guess it's kind of a good thing we've got no cure for that!
