We've been enjoying our down time. Stopped in to see Baby Dee and her Mom on Friday. Tried to fix the hand-me-down crib , but wound up bending the frame beyond repair. Just as well - it was a rickety drop-side style that made me even more nervous about Dee's safety than I already am. I moved the crib out and put the pack-and-play in it's place. Dee is such a tiny little peanut she doesn't need a big crib anyhow.
The boys LOVED the beach. The one month old baby boy doesn't love much of anything. I may have told you he has only two speeds: screaming or sleeping. He is talented and able to suck down his bottles in his sleep or in between glass-shattering screeches and wails. Still waiting to hear if baby and his very young bio-mom will go to a foster home that will take them both. If so, I'm thinking they'll transition next week.
We have an appointment Tuesday morning with the District Attorney's Child Abuse Division for a videotaped interview. One of our dear boys is finally ready to fully report the physical and mental abuse he experienced prior to coming to our home. As you can imagine, even though the abuse is long over, it continues to shape his life by poisoning his trust in adults and fueling his need to control everything and everybody. While we don't think his reporting will lead to criminal prosecution, we do think disclosure will bring our boy some peace of mind and much needed healing.

you are right, she is probably safer int he pack n play.
ReplyDeleteAs for the boy, hopefully healing will come with sharing, that type of burden is a whole lot easier once it is shared. Poor kid, the fact that he has to disclose it at all makes me really angry.

ReplyDeleteIts good that he will report it. If nothing else, there will be documentation some where and if the creep perp's again, its on a record.
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing not- so- good things about drop side cribs (couldn't be more specific) so if it's tricky, you're right, better to move the baby out.
