Last Of The Season

The day was overcast with scattered thunderstorms. Not suitable to kayaking on the pond. The boys were disappointed. Truth be told, we were all disappointed. It was cold and damp enough to warrant one of our favorite lunches: grilled cheese and tomato soup. Yeah, I know that is a winter meal - but hey, here in Northern Vermont, it gets cold early. In fact, it was 45 degrees Saturday night. Really.

The chilly, damp weather today was, however, just fine for bluebery picking.

Don't you know, the 20 pounds The Other Mother and I picked last week will only get us so far through the winter.

We just had to get some more before they are past season. Probably this week they'll be done.

Plus, if the boys participated in picking a few pounds, theoretically, they'd be more inclined to eat them in recipes throughout the year.

Blueberry Pancakes, Blueberry Muffins, Blueberry Smoothies, Blueberry Pie, Blueberry Crisp, Blueberry Scones, Blueberry Crepes, Blueberry Blintzes............hmmmmmmmm
