That being said...A nice 5 bedroom, 2 3/4 bath home in a rural New England community with a great church community, flat driveway (ours is so miserable we park at the bottom and trudge up in the winter....) Bonus features include: Woods and meadow. Near or on a lake. Woodstove and fireplace. Hot tub. Wooden floors. Sunny side of the street so the house is bright and well lit during the day. A fenced in back yard area for the dogs and wee bairns. Lots and lots of closets and built in storage. A mudroom with benches and cubbies for winter stuff and sports equipment. Laundry room on the main floor (not in the basement). A wrap around porch on the front of the house. A small covered sleeping porch at the back of the house. An outdoor shower with a pea gravel path to the back door. A bathroom with shower near the back door for muddy messes and dogs. A daylight basement with it's own egress. A bedroom or two on the main floor. A small deck or patio off the main bedroom suite, Parking area for at least 6 cars (they'll all be driving someday!). Wireless internet. Garbage disposal. Maybe one of those cool tube skylights that funnel sunlight into rooms, a skylight or two strategically placed for sunshine. A three car garage with room for all my junk. A shed for the lawn eqipment. A nice view of sunset and rolling hills and mountains. An easy drive to friends, groceries and civilization

Well I have the garbage disposal and the bathroom by the back door! LOL In our case that is because my house was built before indoor plumbing and both bathrooms are "add ons." Love your vision of a house. We all need to buy some land and build a co-op! (chuckle)

ReplyDeleteAt first I was feeling all guilty about my dream house post (that I still need to post), when you were saying its who is there and not the place. Then you went in to describe the features of your dream home.Great detail. It looks like you have thought of everything. Sounds absolutely wonderful, especially the mudroom and cubby holes. Great idea!

ReplyDeleteIf I had my dream house it would be like one I saw in a movie on the Disney channel - totally automated, it cooked (based on your preferences and what your body needed chemically), it cleaned (carpets that absorb!), it even woke you up by converting your walls to video of whatever made your waking experience the most pleasant (the final buzzer of an amazing game of your favorite sports team, or a rooster on a peaceful farm...). Of course it's a movie so the house develops a psychotic personality and that's just too much like my real house, but a girl can dream....
